Clinton County Veterans Wellness Community

Support you deserve.  Locally grown and close to home.

:: Group      Meetings

The initial focus of the Veterans Wellness Community is on small group meetings for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  These gatherings are run by a licensed social worker and are confidential.

Please contact Cynthia Hannah for more information at 937-728-4807.

:: Family Support

Military  deployments have an impact on the entire family.  We offer a support for family members who often face significant challenges while their service members are overseas and when they return home.

Please contact us if you have an interest in attending or supporting our family-based gatherings.

The Clinton County Veterans Wellness Community (CCVWC) is a privately operated mental health and wellness program that offers support services and friendship to veterans residing in Clinton County and surrounding counties.

Our mission is to provide a safe, private environment where veterans can address behavioral, psychological, and spiritual challenges resulting from military deployments.  We offer small group sessions for veterans and their families, as well as opportunities to participate in various social events and outings.

The Veterans Wellness Community is a collaborative effort between veterans, family, friends and community members.  We have come together to address the need for veterans in the greater Clinton County area to have a private, safe and local support program where they can work through the negative impact war and military conflict has had on their lives.   All interactions at the CCVWC are confidential.

The aim of the CCVWC is to complement the services provided by the VA medical system and not to replace them.  There are many professionals and volunteers at the VA centers and local institutions who are working very hard to meet the needs of service members returning from combat.  We are grateful for their efforts and believe that the Veterans Wellness Community is an important addition to the range of services currently available to veterans living in the greater Clinton County area.

Are you a veteran struggling with any of these symptoms?

Bad memories that won’t go away

A desire to be alone

Trouble sleeping

The tendency to become angry easily

A mistrust of others

Difficulty concentrating and feeling confused

Persistently feeling sad and disconnected

Fatigue and muscle tension

Know that you are not alone and help is available.  Join fellow veteran for a peer-based program where you may work together with others to address the challenges that exist after your return from service.

Get together with other veterans

Social reintegration is often a significant hurdle for veterans returning from war zones.  The Veterans Wellness Community works with veterans to organize events and outings that are fun, interesting and respectful of the group’s social boundaries.  Many times Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) diagnosed veterans have trouble dealing with crowds and public places.  We will look for alternatives methods for veterans with these disorders to enjoy activities that they used to be involved in but now they are unable to participate in presently.

Pass the word!  If you have a family member or friend that you think would benefit from some extra support, please let them know about the Veterans Wellness Community or call us for more information.
